Volunteer Opportunities

Most of the time, when you click on an event on the calendar, it will lead you to a sign up form. There will be descriptions,times, and addresses there. Sorry for the inconvenience!

About Us

We are the TABS Student Volunteers. We are dedicated to bringing about positive change in our community by learning and applying our varied skills to the needs of the community. TABS Student Volunteers are grateful for any chance they get to give back. If you would like to be a part of this movement of change, please sign up for one of events. We can't wait to have you!

Description: Work to help make historical records more accessible by tagging, transcribing, and adding comments to the records.

Description: Write personal letters of gratitude to our veterans and military personnel! This is a part of #Operation Gratitude. #Operation Gratitude offers other forms of service, but some (like the sewing paracord services) may cost. Please be sure to complete the donor form if you choose this form of service.The Veterans United opportunity is free.

Description: Assist people with dyslexia, blindness, cerebral palsy, and other reading barriers by scanning or editing scanned books that these people need for school, work, or the joy of reading.

Description:  Support humanitarian organizations by helping map areas where disasters occur to meet the needs of vulnerable people. Sign up for an account by clicking "Sign up" on the top right.

Description: Help put subtitles on TED talks. Please make an account.

Description: Work to help catalog flora. Pull up a photograph of a herbarium specimen on the screen and then type in the information from the specimen label.

Description: Work to  make historical documents and biodiversity data more accessible through transcription.

Description: Take part in real cutting edge research in many fields across the sciences, humanities, and more. Click register on the upper right side to sign up.

Description: Assist the blind and people with low vision with tasks like shopping, or reading letters. Download the Be My Eyes app and sign up as a volunteer,

Description: Help turn public domain books into e-books. Must register for an account.

DIY Dog Toys

Description:  Create dog toys out of old T-shirts. Deliver to 1840 E. Lancaster Ave. Fort Worth,TX 76103. Scan QR code for more details.

Description: Variety of different opportunities available once you register for an account.

Description: Assist refugees who need interpreters. Download the Tarjimly app and sign up to be a volunteer.

Description: Call unregistered voters and ask them the 3 questions listed on the site to encourage them to vote. When you go to this link, click on "search for events" and then create an account. Calling shifts are typically 3 hours long.

Description:  Not really for hours, but take some time to tell our DFW pediatrician's thank you for their continued service. Program is short and free.

Vogel Alcove

Description:  Record yourself reading a children's book. Email recording files to Heather Bradford at hbradford@vogelalcoves.org

Description:. Follow guidelines to create educational videos for Dallas ISD students. 1 service hour per video,

Description: TCC made me aware of these opportunities. Some may be already listed above,but if none catch your interest,feel free to check out these options as well. If the link above doesn't work, go to Trinity River Student Development Center on my.tccd.edu, then Student Activities,Community Service,and finally Service Insight and Service Opportunities.

Description:  Help discourage graffiti in FW! You can help paint murals or cover up already existing graffiti with paint. Covering up graffiti shifts are typically 4 hours long. Murals come together in one day.

Virtual Volunteer Opportunities

Long Term Opportunities

Description: Once you make an account, there are a lot of different opportunities available. Some include the FW library, the FW Fire Department, and the FW Community Emergency Response Team. I would recommend the library :)

Description: Help deliver meals to people recovering from illnesses or senior citizens. Must have means of transportation.

Description: Help HSNT by walking dogs, playing with cats, assisting in adoptions, lending an extra hand during a large cruelty case, or representing HSNT at events. One time volunteer fee of $40 must be paid for materials and training. Volunteers asked to serve for 4 hours a month.

Description:  Help out at the Botanical Gardens! Volunteers get a free T-shirt. There are no costs to become a volunteer. 

Requirements:
Must be 14 to 17 years of age Complete at least 15 hours of service in each semester OR 30 hours in the Summer
